Agree on the handover
Ask which tests the clinician wants and whether the collection site can accept the order. Then check how the complete report gets back, who reviews it and how you’ll hear the answer.
We’d ask what happens if the order hasn’t arrived when you do. Keep the care team’s contact details with the paperwork. A fallback is easier to discuss while everyone is available.
Testing includes repeat morning samples. Bring that into the travel conversation. Ask how a second draw can be arranged if you’ll already be back home.
Why the report needs a person
The guideline calls for reviewing benefit and unwanted effects after treatment begins. Ask who owns that review. A file reaching an inbox is only part of the handover.

Check what the remote visit can cover

As of October 2026, Alaska’s guidance says telehealth rules depend on where you receive care. Ask the clinician to confirm they’re authorized to care for you where you’ll be sitting.
Testosterone is a controlled medicine. As of October 2026, temporary federal rules run through December 31, 2026. They allow remote prescribing without a prior in-person exam under set conditions. The prescriber must have the required federal drug-agency registration or exemption and authority for that medicine. The prescription must serve a legitimate medical purpose. For testosterone, this route calls for an interactive audio-video visit; a questionnaire or voice call alone is not enough. State rules still apply.
Ask whether your situation needs an examination in person. Also agree what happens if the video connection fails. The temporary rule doesn’t guarantee that a remote visit will end with a prescription.
Why your location matters
Federal guidance explains that permission to practise across state lines depends on state rules. Tell the care team where you’ll be for each visit, including when travel takes you somewhere different.

Plan for the next report
For later checks, ask how to get a new order and confirm the report arrived. Keep your own full copy. If a collection falls through, contact the care team about rearranging it.
Put benefits and safety checks on that same list. We’d agree who to contact with questions between visits, especially when the next journey is some way off.
For personal decisions, speak with a licensed U.S. clinician or telehealth service authorized to care for you where you are. Check the practical arrangements with them before making the trip.
